K.R. Raja Govindasamy, a former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar, shares his favorite convention moment.
I caught up with a few Rotarians as they were getting ready to leave the 2012 RI Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, and asked what their favorite moments were.
Glen MacGillivray, a member of the Rotary Club of Petawawa, Ontario, Canada, said:
“The House of Friendship has been amazing. I’ve met an awful lot of people with shared interests and different interests. People who could help us with what we’re trying to do and us help them with what they want to do. We’re a small club. It was nice to be a part of something bigger. And hearing Muhammad Yunus was a great thrill. It’s a big reason why we came.”
Former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar K.R. Raja Govindasamy, Rotary Club of Madurai West, India:
“The inauguration with the Thai Princess and the Leadership Institute. The institute was very inspiring. It taught me that leadership isn’t just about mobilizing people but mobilizing funds.”
Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira, Rotary Club of Mengo, Uganda:
“I think the most interesting was the breakout session, The Fine Art of Building Rotary Relationships. Interacting with new people I found very enriching.”

“The opening plenary. All the excitement and enthusiasm was there. As a first-time attendee I was amazed at the internationality of the convention. I loved seeing the RI president and the Thai princess. I learned a great deal here.”

i enjoyed every moment spent in d house of fellowship! I made new friends around the world! I sincerely enjoyed the speeches of our guests especially the closing speech by RI president Kalyan Benerjee! had a grate time with all Rotarian in the world…………..wow ooooooo

Inspired by a young Australian Hugh Evans who opened the Plenary Sessions with his passionate plea to make poverty history and to continue the push to End Polio Now As an Australian I was extremely proud that a young Australian has such a passion for changing the disadvantages of those less fortunate than ourselves

The opening plenary season was a bomb! I enjoyed every moment spent in d house of fellowship! I made new friends around the world! I sincerely enjoyed the speeches of our guests especially the closing speech by RI president Kalyan Benerjee! I had great joy when my DG Yinka Babalola was called to podium as an award winner! Rotary My Rotary!
