Hats that make kids smile

There were a lot of happy, smiling faces out there in our community recently, as the beautiful and colorful Hats For A Purpose were distributed to local schools to help warm the hearts and heads of kids who needed them.

This year’s effort by so many creative and skilled crafters almost doubled the number of hats from earlier years. School administrators wanted everyone to know that some children never get anything new so receiving a handmade ‘just for them’ hat was a real experience and one they will never forget. One school nurse noted “the hats and scarves were beautiful.”

The picture to the right shows just a few of the hats that made kids smile this year.  What club project has made you smile?

  2. Hats Off to the Hats-Project
We at R C Tiruchirapalli have an Annual Project [since 1997] the brain-child of the then President, Jainus D John – Festival Project – bringing smiles on the faces of the street-dwellers. 20-25 of our Rotarians gather at 10.00 pm, carry with us new clothes + sweet packets, literally wake up the street dwellers and greet them for Deepavali [our Festival of Lights], and present them with our gifts, a dhoti, a saree and a packet of sweets, to nearly 150 families in a space of three hours travelling through different parts of the city. [eFlash_Rotary has listed the photograph as among the top ten]. The glow in their faces is something to be seen to be believed
